Description

Bats in the Bypass

Join us for an evening with the bats and see one of the largest colonies in California as it emerges each night to hunt insects.  The program will dispel the prevalent myths that abound regarding bats and reveal the wonders and benefits of bats in our world.  The focus will be on the ecological importance and conservation of CA bats. Hosted by the Yolo Basin Foundation in Davis, this event begins with a PowerPoint presentation about bats and interactive discussion.

The program begins at the Yolo Wildlife Area (YWA) Headquarters 1½ hours before sunset.  A guided tour into the Yolo Wildlife Area to watch the bats fly out just before sunset follows this presentation.

For more information about the program visit www.yolobasin.org  530-757-4828

For information on bats: www.norcalbats.org/about_bats.shtml

Participants can choose to attend the presentation, the fly-out or both. The whole event lasts approximately 3 hours. Once participants enter the Yolo Wildlife Area, everyone must stay together as we will be in the area after it closes and we will be on farm roads not open to the general public.

Cost: The Yolo Basin Foundation requests a $5.00 donation from non-member adults. Children are free.
